Max

Mixed Breed · Male

Gorgeous Max is looking for a new home through no fault of his own, following a change in his owner’s circumstances. Max is a wonderfully loving, affectionate boy with all the enthusiasm and energy you’d expect from a Springer! His foster carer describes him as an incredibly loveable companion and says whoever adopts him will be very lucky. He absolutely loves people and attention. He’s happiest when he’s close to someone and, once his exercise needs have been met, will happily settle down for a cuddle on the sofa. He enjoys being touched and brushed, settles well at night and is housetrained. An active boy looking for an active home. Max is a typical high-energy Springer, so we’re looking for someone who understands the breed and can give him the physical exercise and mental stimulation he needs. We feel he’d be particularly suited to an active home in a semi-rural location, with access to plenty of open spaces where he can enjoy long walks, adventures and activities that help channel that Springer energy. A secure, well-fenced garden is essential. Max is strong and currently pulls quite a lot on the lead, so his new family will need to be confident handling him and willing to continue working on his lead walking. His previous owner reported that his recall was good, although this hasn’t yet been tested while he’s in foster, so this will also need continued work. Max has previously lived with another dog and is reported to be fantastic around other dogs. We think he could happily share his new home with another friendly, compatible dog – or dogs – following successful introductions. He has never lived with cats and will chase them, so he isn’t suitable for a home with cats. Max has previously lived with children aged 8 and 11 and was described by his former owner as amazing with them. We’d be happy to consider a home with older, dog-savvy children. He’s also a good traveller, behaves well at the vets and has no known guarding or possessive behaviours. He’s comfortable being handled all over – although, like many dogs, he’s definitely not a fan of the Hoover! Max has previously been left for a few hours without issue, although he’s a very people-oriented dog who loves companionship, so we’d like his new family to have plenty of time for him. Could Max be your perfect match? Max really is a lovely boy – affectionate, enthusiastic and full of personality. In the right home, with plenty of exercise, stimulation, training and love, we think he’s going to make an absolutely fantastic companion. If you know and love Springers, enjoy an active lifestyle and are looking for a four-legged adventure buddy who’ll also happily snuggle up beside you afterwards, Max could be the one for you. About Max

What life with Max looks like

Max is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Warrington Animal Welfare in Warrington.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Max, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Max?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Warrington Animal Welfare handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Max on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Max if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Warrington Animal Welfare will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Max already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Max isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Warrington Animal Welfare early rather than rehoming privately; they know Max and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
