Holly Wood

adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Holly Wood can stay forever in your foster home! Her story: Day by day, she waited— the little unassuming, shy female dog with the hopeful name, hoping someone would finally see her. Can you imagine what it's like to sit behind bars for so long? Despite the long time in the shelter in Baia Mare, Holly Wood remained reserved towards people. She came out of the hut curiously when offered a treat, but direct contact never happened during the five seemingly endless years. However, in her foster home, everything changed in a flash! Holly Wood decided right away that she could trust her foster family. On the first day, our former long-term inmate could go on a small walk, and in the following days, it became clear how great a female dog she is. She quickly learned the life of a family dog and clearly found it to her liking. Friendly to other fellow animals, Holly Wood took care of the new puppy and soon began to issue first play invitations, because during the walks, joy shone in her eyes and broke through. Holly Wood now walks calmly on the leash and likes car rides. Only when it comes to touching or petting Holly Wood, one should still be gentle and calm. Trust in people should grow slowly… At home, Holly Wood can relax well and enjoys cozy spots. Living in peaceful coexistence with the two cats, the wise female dog is doing great. She has lost enough time… She is now around 10 years old, 43 cm tall, and weighs about 14 kg. Although Holly Wood is still fit, age is starting to show, as the vet detected a heart murmur and several teeth that need treatment. Our sweet doggy mouse is now waiting for her ultrasound, also to determine if she needs a medication to support her heart function. Our association will be able to cover Holly Wood's tooth surgery with the help of our donors, so she can go through life pain-free. Holly Wood is a great companion, and we are now looking for her forever home, so her foster home can be a stepping stone to a happy future for another dog. Our star will be neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated in her forever home. She brings her EU pet passport and can go home after a positive result. Many thanks! Sandra S.! Thanks to you, Holly Wood has an identity and the chance to find her family. A big thank you also goes to Barbara C., who took on a monthly sponsorship for Holly Wood. Stand: 01.03.

About Holly Wood

What life with Holly Wood looks like

Holly Wood is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Holly Wood, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Holly Wood?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Holly Wood on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Holly Wood if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Holly Wood already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Holly Wood isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Holly Wood and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
