Hope

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 1 year

Hello dear friends, I am Hope, born around 2014 and came to our shelter in 2025 with my kittens, who have already found wonderful families. After my neutering, I was the last to join the girls' group, and since then, a lot has happened. As they say, joy and sorrow often lie close together. Our dear Brummi has indeed had the chance to find a home with loving animal friends, which we are all very happy about. But the loss of our dear Gretchen not only affects our caregivers deeply, it also affects us, her fellow residents, who grieve her loss.💔😿 It's especially hard for me to deal with the unrest. Since moving into the girls' group, I've been confined to the outdoor area, so our caregivers have to feed me separately. I know the cat flap and how to get into the indoor area, but my fear is too great. Although I am a social cat and the other cats leave me alone, it's too much for me with the other cats. Due to the space situation at the animal shelter, it unfortunately isn't possible to do otherwise. Therefore, I hope to find loving and understanding animal friends who will give me my own home. I would feel most comfortable in a quiet home where I can observe the birds from a secure balcony. I think I would also feel well in a home as a single cat, but with a calm fellow animal who can show me that I don't need to be afraid of people, I would adapt to a new environment more easily. I know that as a black and very shy cat, it's hard for me to find a home - but in this case, my name is a program😺🍀 Thank you for your attention - and have a nice evening, your hopeful Hope😽 (written by cat caregiver Andrea 😇)

About Hope

What life with Hope looks like

Hope is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Quedlinburg in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hope, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hope?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Quedlinburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hope on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hope if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Quedlinburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hope already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hope isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Quedlinburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hope and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
