Hummel

Male · Young · 1 year

Hello, I'm the sweet Hummel and I can't wait to start my big adventure! I was given up by my previous owners at the animal shelter and have experienced a lot at such a young age. That's why I'm all the more looking forward to my forever home, where I can experience great things with a partner or in a group. As you can probably tell, I'm very cheerful, lively, and curious. If I get the chance, I want to explore everything immediately and am not afraid of the unknown. That's why I wish for a lot of space and activity in my new home, so I can let off my energy. Since I have floppy ears, it's very important to be well-versed in the subject and to have a knowledgeable veterinarian by your side. So if I could fit well with you and your lifestyle, please get in touch! I'm ready! Do you think we'd be a good match? Then please send an email and tell us a bit about yourself and your living conditions. Also, please send some pictures.

About Hummel

What life with Hummel looks like

Hummel is a large young adult rabbit waiting at Tierheim Stuttgart in Stuttgart.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hummel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hummel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Stuttgart handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hummel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hummel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Stuttgart will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hummel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hummel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Stuttgart early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hummel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
