Hund Buddy

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 21 years

Buddy was born around the year 2001 and found a safe haven on the Tierlebenshof in Irmenach on October 11, 2005. Buddy was an American Staffordshire-Terrier mixed-breed male dog. Animal welfare workers discovered an ad in a daily newspaper stating that a dog was to be given away due to moving abroad. The ad mentioned that the dog would bite children, men, and male dogs. Shortly after, a second ad followed: "Dog urgently to be given away, otherwise dog to be killed." The animal welfare workers got in touch with the people who were willing to give Buddy up. As the day approached when Buddy was to move into the Tierlebenshof, we felt a bit uneasy. Safety measures were taken on the entire farm, with water buckets placed around to be able to intervene immediately if Buddy were to attack our other male dogs and "bite to death." Armed with these precautions, we awaited his arrival. When the day finally arrived, we were quite surprised. The "biting" Buddy showed no signs of aggression, and his integration into farm life went smoothly. He was also friendly with children who occasionally visited, being the most persistent playmate of all the dogs. Buddy loved toys more than anything. Plush toys were his great passion. Since our Buddy was a little "big motoriker," his toys unfortunately had a very short lifespan, and he had a high demand for replacements. Buddy's motto: "What is more beautiful in life than to dismantle and analyze toys into their individual parts?"

DE·Show original

About Hund Buddy

What life with Hund Buddy looks like

Hund Buddy is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. in Irmenach.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hund Buddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hund Buddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hund Buddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hund Buddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hund Buddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hund Buddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hund Buddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
