Hund Herr Mirki

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

On January 18, 2018, Mr. Mirki moved in with his best friend, Mrs. Meda, at our area. Mr. Mirki was born around September 2009 in Zenica, Bosnia, where he lived happily and contentedly as a street dog. A group of animal welfare workers*innen cared for the dogs there, providing them with food and medical attention. When the city of Zenica began capturing and killing street dogs in January 2017, Mr. Mirki and Mrs. Meda, along with about 100 other dogs, were rescued from the streets and placed in "pensions." Since both dogs were already in advanced age and could only be rehomed together, there was no chance to find a new home for the two. Therefore, we decided to take Mrs. Meda and Mr. Mirki in. Mr. Mirki is a soul of a dog. He is very kind and avoids any fights. He likes to cuddle and is otherwise in the background, letting others take the lead. The introduction into our existing pack of dogs also went without problems. Mr. Mirki settled in very quickly and by half an hour, it seemed as if he had always lived on the Tierlebenshof. Mr. Mirki spends his days on the farm and in the dog house. He likes to romp with the other male dogs on the farm, but always returns to the house to check on his wife, Mrs. Meda. He is an absolute gentleman. "": " "" : "ImageGallery", "id" : " "url" : " Dearest Mr. Mirki, you, Mrs. Meda, and I know that the decision to let you go was the right one. Nevertheless, it hurts infinitely. You endured your illness and limitations without complaint and enjoyed your life as best you could... But you were always like that: a wonderful, lovable, grateful dog who never caused problems. You were happy when you could stroll around the farm, bask in the sun, or roll around, as long as your wife, Mrs. Meda, was with you! You leave a huge gap, my heart is a little more broken, which is already by Mrs. Meda. But she is like you, she is brave and makes the best of the situation. Dear Mr. Mirki, I am grateful that I shared 6 1/2 years of my life with you. I will never forget you and am sure we will see each other again someday! Until then, take care, you wonderful dog...

About Hund Herr Mirki

What life with Hund Herr Mirki looks like

Hund Herr Mirki is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. in Irmenach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hund Herr Mirki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hund Herr Mirki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hund Herr Mirki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hund Herr Mirki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hund Herr Mirki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hund Herr Mirki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hund Herr Mirki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
