Hund Lenny

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 18 years

Lenny was born around the year 2000 and moved to the Tierlebenshof with his buddy Otto on May 23, 2010. Unfortunately, Otto passed away in July 2012. Lenny is a large Labrador-mixed-breed male dog who rarely makes a big fuss. He scurries around unobtrusively most of the time. However, he is very present when the pig feeders are being prepared. He watches closely as different vegetables and fruits are cut into pieces. He only feels satisfied when he gets a piece of banana. Lenny’s people moved from the countryside to the city and were unable or unwilling to take him and Otto to their new apartment. So, the two of them came to us. Lenny is very clingy. He only lived outside with his previous owners and likely had little interaction. He enjoys any kind of attention. What’s fascinating about Lenny is his “internal clock.” At precisely 6:00 PM, he begins to bark and howl. For him, it’s time to go to bed and he wants to be on his mattress. On February 10, 2018, our dog grandpa Lenny quietly crossed over the rainbow bridge. Lenny would have turned 18 years old on April 27, 2018. In his old age, he became something very special. He was very lovable, a dog who touched hearts. And exactly on this quiet note, he bid us farewell forever. "Dear Lenny, it became harder for you to walk, but you were always content, happy about any small bit of attention, and loved your food until the very end. We will miss you greatly, but we give you your well-deserved peace in the Rainbow Land. Surely you will meet your friend Otto there again. Have a nice time together until we meet again someday…"

DE·Show original

About Hund Lenny

What life with Hund Lenny looks like

Hund Lenny is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. in Irmenach.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hund Lenny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hund Lenny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hund Lenny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hund Lenny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hund Lenny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hund Lenny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hund Lenny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
