Hunter

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Hunter is a young, large, and strong dog who… doesn’t realize the size of his own body. Deep down, he’s still a puppy – happy, energetic, and full of enthusiasm. Unfortunately, at puppyhood age, he lacked proper upbringing, so now he needs a caregiver who will help him understand the rules and clearly set boundaries. Jumping with joy, sudden tugs on the leash, and forceful dragging of the caregiver are still his daily routine, but with each walk, he’s making progress. Hunter is a dog who loves movement and play. He adores fetching a ball, knows basic commands, and eagerly learns new things – though at his own, crazy pace. He loves people wholeheartedly and doesn’t hesitate to show them affection, so gentle touches and closeness to a human are his best rewards. He doesn’t get along with other dogs and has a tendency to run away, so the future caregiver must ensure appropriate precautions. Hunter needs someone who will be firm, consistent, but also show him the world in a way that will allow him to calm down and find balance. If you’re looking for a dog who will give you plenty of joy, but you’re not afraid to work with a strong and temperamental four-legged friend – Hunter is waiting for you!

PL·Show original

Hunter to młody, duży i silny pies, który… nie zdaje sobie sprawy z własnych rozmiarów. W głębi duszy to wciąż szczeniak – radosny, energiczny i pełen entuzjazmu. Niestety, w wieku szczenięcym zabrakło mu odpowiedniego wychowania, dlatego teraz potrzebuje opiekuna, który pomoże mu zrozumieć zasady i jasno wyznaczy granice.

About Hunter

What life with Hunter looks like

Hunter is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hunter, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hunter?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hunter on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hunter if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hunter already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hunter isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hunter and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
