Adopt Hurona

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

You can see the rescue in the video. They were alerted about a cat who had been in a tree for several days, and upon arrival, we found her about 6 meters up and with our ladder, we couldn't reach her. We also couldn't reach her from the balcony of the house, so we called the firefighters who arrived with two trucks. They managed to get her to jump from the tree and we caught her with a net, but she escaped from it and ran to hide in a hole in the basement (as if she were a ferret). Through the hole, we set up a live trap while covering another exit with a net. In the end, we managed to capture her and safely bring her to our shelter. She is a friendly, cheerful, and affectionate cat. We hope this adventurous cat finds a family and ends her climbing desires. She has already been waiting for a permanent family for a year, help us find her. She is a loveable cat, and remember that although she is positive for feline immunodeficiency virus, she can live with cats that are not positive. FIV is very difficult to transmit; it would require very serious fights with a lot of blood, and Hurona does not fight with any cat. If you adopt her, you will get a wonderful cat, I assure you!! She has already been spayed.

About Hurona

What life with Hurona looks like

Hurona is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at ALBA Protectora Madrid in Madrid.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hurona, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hurona?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ALBA Protectora Madrid handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hurona on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hurona if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ALBA Protectora Madrid will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hurona already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hurona isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ALBA Protectora Madrid early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hurona and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
