How do I contact the shelter about Ilaria?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ilaria on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Ilaria if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Ilaria already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Ilaria isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ilaria and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Ilaria

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 10 months

Ilaria is our latest rescue. We don't know her past, but it's clear it wasn't easy. Despite her age, she arrived at the shelter with puppies. 💔 Ilaria weighs about 22 kg and is 10 years old. She's a dog slowly opening up to human contact. She can trust, but needs time and patience from her caregiver. She's initially withdrawn and uncertain, but through systematic work with volunteers, she slowly emerges from her shell and learns about the world without suffering and fear. 🌍 Despite making great progress, Ilaria still has a significant problem with touch, reacting to it with whining. Therefore, patience, care, and time are and will be a huge ally for her in this matter. Ilaria is our next wonderful but life-hurting dog who is learning to trust people again. That's why she's looking for a responsible and very patient permanent or temporary home. One that will allow her to slowly open up at her own pace. With care, understanding, and love that this wonderful and sensitive dog deserves. 🥺❤️ 📍 Ilaria is at the Canis Shelter for Homeless Animals in Kruszewo - about 100 km from Warsaw and Bialystok. 🦴 You can visit her every weekend from 10am to 4pm. 📞 Contact for adoption or more information: 502 750 530 Can't adopt? Ilaria to nasz kolejny lękusek. About Ilaria

What life with Ilaria looks like

Ilaria is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.
