Indi

Chihuahua · Male · Senior · 9 years

Meet our sweet but sensitive little lad, Indi! This little man came with several other similar dogs and has shown that he has a strong sensitive side to him. He has shown that he needs time to adjust to a new environment and to new people, as he is quite worried of unfamiliar faces. Day by day he is very gradually making progress with his confidence, and is showing to make friends more easily with a bonded handler with him. To set him up for success he will need to live in a home with his own private garden away from busy hot spots and preferably with another furry dog friend, of a similar size to him. New owners should have some experience of dealing with the Chihuahua breed, or a dog of a sensitive nature. This will give owners a realistic expectation on how he will be in the home. His new owners will need to work with him to help him build up his confidence and settle into his new life. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Indi, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest.

About Indi

What life with Indi looks like

Indi is a small senior chihuahua dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Indi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Indi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Indi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Indi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Indi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Indi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Indi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
