Breed: chihuahua Age: 03-03-2025 Gets along with other dogs: yes, an active and social dog. Gets along with cats: ? Suitable for an apartment: no, a house with a garden Gets along with children: yes, 12+ Lucho was returned to the animal shelter for the second time (!). Three months after adoption, he would have loved to play with the other dog, and since the owner had to go to full-time work, it was decided to return Lucho to the animal shelter. A shame, because this unlucky bird had already been returned to the animal shelter before because his previous owner had a burnout. We are therefore looking for a place where Lucho can stay. Lucho is a social guy, definitely towards people. He finds other dogs sometimes exciting, but if it’s a good match, he could be placed with another dog. This also means that he can bark on a leash towards other dogs. He is young, playful, and very much wants to be active. This means he will always be asking to play, even when another dog doesn’t want to. If there are adopters with their own dog, we are looking for owners who can manage: giving Lucho a time out and stimulating him in other ways so that his energy needs are met. He is friendly, but when left alone for longer, a puddle might be found. He can be anxious about sounds he hears and stimuli he sees from the living room. Therefore, an apartment adoption is unfortunately not an option. A house with a garden is very much desired. An adoption with older children is certainly an option. Preferably people who are more at home to meet his energy needs. Since Lucho has come back for the second time, we kindly ask people to think carefully about an adoption. It might be that an adoption is more difficult than initially thought. There are recognized behavior therapists who can help, but the willingness of adopters is very important here. This has happened with Lucho so far. We absolutely want to prevent this from happening a third time.

Kan op een appartement: nee, huis met een tuin Kan met kinderen: Ja, 12+ Lucho werd voor de tweede keer (!) terug naar het asiel gebracht. Drie maanden na de adoptie zou hij te graag willen spelen met de andere hond en doordat de eigenaar fulltime moest gaan werken, werd besloten Lucho terug naar het asiel te brengen. Zonde, want deze pechvogel is al eerder terug naar het asiel gebracht omdat zijn vorige eigenaar een burn-out had. We zoeken dus nu een plek waar Lucho wel mag blijven. Lucho is een sociale vent, zeker naar mensen. Andere honden vindt hij soms spannend, maar als het een juiste match is, zou hij bij een andere hond geplaatst kunnen worden. Dit betekent ook dat hij aan de riem kan blaffen naar andere honden. Hij is jong, speels en wil heel graag actief bezig zijn. Hierdoor kan hij blijven vragen om te spelen, ook wanneer een andere hond daar geen zin in heeft. Als er adoptanten zijn met een eigen hond, zoeken we eigenaren die dit kunnen managen: Lucho een time out geven en op andere manieren stimuleren, zodat er toch in zijn energiebehoefte wordt voorzien. Hij is zindelijk, maar wanneer hij langer alleen wordt gelaten, kan er een plasje gevonden worden. Naar geluiden die hij hoort kan hij ongerust worden en blaffen, evenals prikkels die hij vanuit de woonkamer ziet. Een adoptie op een appartement is dan ook helaas geen mogelijkheid. Een huis met een tuin is zeer gewenst. Een adoptie bij grotere kinderen is zeker een optie. Liefst mensen die meer thuis zijn, om te voorzien in zijn energiebehoefte. Doordat Lucho voor de tweede keer is teruggekomen, verzoeken we mensen vriendelijk om goed na te denken over een adoptie. Het kan zijn dat een adoptie met momenten moeilijker is dan aanvankelijk gedacht. Er zijn erkende gedragstherapeuten die kunnen helpen, maar de bereidwilligheid van adoptanten is hierin zeer voornaam. Tot op heden is dat bij Lucho tegengevallen. Dit willen we absoluut een derde keer voorkomen.
