Indie

Female Β· Puppy Β· 5 months

Introduction: Indie is a boisterous, bubbly and very energetic pup! She is very intelligent and is going to develop into an active, cheeky dog. Home wanted: A home committed to on going training and support as she develops. Home with a nice garden to race around in. Patience and understanding of adolescent behaviours as can become frustrated and mouthy as lots for her to process at this age! She is used to a quieter home environment and walking places, as worried by busy roads. Indie is house trained, used to travelling and fine left for short periods. Behaviour towards people/children: Can be shy, quickly comes round if calm and gentle, then is very boisterous with known people. Could live with older teenagers. Has been around children but at this stage would prefer not to live with. Other animals: She can be shy towards other dogs initially and quite submissive, then quickly comes round and likes to play, often quite full on for the other dog unless well matched play friends. May be able to live with another dog if used to boisterous pups. Curious around cats, may be able to live with a confident cat if able to manage interactions carefully and prevent chasing. Additional needs (behavioural/extra support): A home committed to ongoing training with kind supportive methods through adolescence.

About Indie

What life with Indie looks like

Indie is a puppy dog waiting at Raystede Centre in Ringmer.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window β€” house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Indie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Indie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Raystede Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Indie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Indie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Raystede Centre will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Indie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Indie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Raystede Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Indie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
