Adopt Nora

Beagle · Female · Adult · 7 years

05-06-26 Nora has come to us from a breeder and is now looking for a very special forever home. She is a scared girl who is understandably feeling overwhelmed to find herself here and is desperately in need of kindness, patience and TLC as she begins to settle and learn that the world can be a safe place. When Nora first arrived with us, she was showing some neurological symptoms and ataxia, and her back legs would occasionally slide from underneath her, causing her to stumble. Following investigations with our vets, it was found that her proprioception was delayed in all four limbs. She was trialed on a course of medication alongside crate rest and has made wonderful progress. Her proprioception is now normal, she is able to get around and play happily, and she enjoys life much more comfortably. She does still have a slight amount of ataxia and can occasionally limp still. Our vet feels that she may have suffered an acute injury at some point in the past which has largely resolved itself, though she will likely never present like a normal dog. Nora will be looking for adopters who will love and cherish her just as she is. Due to her mobility history, she will need a home without slippery flooring, or one where plenty of rugs and runners are in place to help her move around confidently and safely. She would be best suited to a calm and quiet home with adopters who have experience of nervous ex-breeding dogs and understand her worries. Nora will need time to settle at her own pace and will thrive with patient adopters who are happy to let her progress in her own time. She takes great comfort from the company of other dogs and will need at least one other kind and confident resident dog in her new home to show her the way and help her build confidence. Nora has never experienced life in a home before so her new family will need to be understanding as she learns all about home life and new skills like house training. She doesn't yet walk on a lead and harness and initially she will need to practise wearing her harness and exploring safely within the home and garden before she is ready to venture further afield. Although Nora is still very worried and unsure of the world around her, beneath her fears is a sweet and deserving little girl who simply needs someone to believe in her. Watching a scared dog slowly learn to trust is one of the most rewarding experiences, and with love, patience and understanding, Nora will blossom. The day she greets you with a wagging tail and a sparkle in her eyes will make every moment of that journey worthwhile. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Nora

What life with Nora looks like

Nora is a adult beagle dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
