Indy

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

My story: Here is Indy, a mixed-breed dog aged 1 and a half years. He arrived at our shelter as a result of a voluntary abandonment. His previous owner could no longer manage him due to his imposing size. This handsome fellow now weighs around 40 kg. My personality: I am a young, energetic dog who is very close to humans and particularly affectionate. Indy loves cuddles and is always ready to give big kisses to those who pay him attention. His enthusiasm can sometimes make him a bit brusque: he doesn't always measure his strength or size! He is social with other dogs of the same species and currently lives in a collective pen, enjoying the company of other dogs with whom he likes to play. However, cats are not compatible with him. Likes/dislikes: Very greedy, Indy is easy to motivate and particularly enjoys search activities, occupation games, and chewing activities. A family with children could certainly suit him, provided they take into account his young age, his energy, and his size, which can make his displays of affection a bit clumsy. A big fan of walks, Indy will be delighted to share all your adventures and accompany you everywhere. He already has good basic training, is housebroken, and is not destructive.

About Indy

What life with Indy looks like

Indy is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at APAA Trégrom in France.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Indy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Indy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. APAA Trégrom handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Indy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Indy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — APAA Trégrom will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Indy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Indy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with APAA Trégrom early rather than rehoming privately; they know Indy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
