Inka &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 20 years

Report from Grisette Dog Shelter: Inka, born in 2006, 39 cm tall, came to us as an emergency dog through the Tierschutzbund Basel when her owner was admitted to a home. Today, we took Inka to the vet for an examination. Unfortunately, it was discovered that she has a rather large tumor on one side of her chest. We are urgently seeking a home where Inka can still spend her remaining time in peace. She gets along well with other dogs and also begins to trust people after a little time. We wish for her an apartment on the ground floor with a garden, as she likes to nap outside. Inka also enjoys going for leisurely walks. Please help by spreading the word about the Omchen, so that she finds loving people soon! Please read more about her on our homepage www.grisette.ch, where you can also find more photos and videos and our other dogs who are also looking for a home. If you could offer Inka a suitable home and would like to meet her without obligation, we are happy if you request our non-binding application form: if there is an answering machine, please leave a message and your phone number, we will call back) or by email: info(at)grisette.ch.

About Inka &#8211

What life with Inka &#8211 looks like

Inka &#8211 is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzbund Basel Regional.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Inka &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Inka &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzbund Basel Regional handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Inka &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Inka &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzbund Basel Regional will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Inka &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Inka &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzbund Basel Regional early rather than rehoming privately; they know Inka &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
