Adopt Irys

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Name: Irys Breed: mixed breed Age: 09.09.2019 Gender: male Size: medium up to 15 kg Found: Makowskiego, Konin Spaying/Neutering: YES Vaccinations: YES Has microchip: YES Accepts other dogs: rather no major problems; Inka, Irys, Rudi and Iskra lived in our animal shelter since 27.12.2019 from Makowskiego street in Konin. Puppies came to us completely wild, without their mother. The little ones were withdrawn and afraid of people. When we tried to approach them, they bit and ran away. Their socialization took a very long time and succeeded thanks to the commitment and persistent work of one of our employees. Although they have been under our care for more than half a year, they still require consistent, daily work. Inka (female dog) and Irys (male) currently require the most attention from the whole group. For our puppies, we are looking for responsible owners who will continue to work with them diligently. There is still a lot ahead of them; the puppies grew up in the animal shelter, they are only learning to walk on a leash and slowly getting to know their surroundings. We dream of the puppies being placed in a house with a garden where there will be another dog.

Imię: Irys W typie rasy: mieszaniec Wiek: 09.09.2019r. Płeć: samiec Wielkość: średni do 15 kg Znaleziony: Makowskiego, Konin Sterylizacja/ kastracja: TAK Szczepienia: TAK Posiada czip: TAK Akceptuje inne psy: raczej nie ma większych problemów; Inka, Irys, Rudi i Iskra zamieszkały w naszym schronisku 27.12.2019r. z ulicy Makowskiego w Koninie. Szczeniaki trafiły do nas kompletnie dzikie, bez mamy. Maluchy były wycofane i bały się człowieka. Gdy próbowaliśmy podejść do nich gryzły i uciekały. Chętnych do adopcji prosimy najpierw o

About Irys

What life with Irys looks like

Irys is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Konin in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Irys, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Irys?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Konin handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Irys on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Irys if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Konin will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Irys already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Irys isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Konin early rather than rehoming privately; they know Irys and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
