Iwo

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 3 years

Iwo is about 3 years old and a small neutered dog. He was found running loose in Zalipie, where he had no care. After being secured, he fell under the care of our shelter. At first, things weren't easy for him. He was scared, distrustful of people, and afraid of touch. He didn't know what to expect and whether he could trust anyone. Thankfully, he quickly understood that he was now safe. Today, we meet him as a sympathetic, energetic pup who happily goes for walks and is gradually opening up to humans. Iwo is truly an energy volcano – everywhere he goes, there's excitement, and calmness is decidedly not his strong suit 😄 He loves to bark, especially at other dogs, so the future caregiver should be ready for work on his emotions and a calm approach. This is a joyful, fiery boy who needs an active home, patience, and someone who can show him that life by a human's side can be really great. Could this little troublemaker just be someone's best friend?

PL·Show original

About Iwo

What life with Iwo looks like

Iwo is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Dłużyna Górna in Poland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Iwo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Iwo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Dłużyna Górna handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Iwo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Iwo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Dłużyna Górna will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Iwo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Iwo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Dłużyna Górna early rather than rehoming privately; they know Iwo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
