Adopt Jabba

English Bulldog · Male · Young · 3 years

Jabba wraps everyone around his little finger with his charm, as he shows an extremely cuddly side when interacting with people. He is a young, independent male dog who is not lacking in courage. He goes through life with great confidence, whether it’s on the street in traffic with loud noises or in the forest, he remains calm and composed, although he also likes to discuss things from time to time. He is also already somewhat leash-friendly and can now go past approaching dogs. However, in a new home, there should be no other dogs or children, as he becomes overwhelmed in stressful situations and releases his frustration like a lightning rod onto his surroundings. Dog contact during a walk will likely work well after a get-to-know period. In order to walk Jabba, a certification of knowledge is required due to an assessment. Regulations in Schleswig-Holstein:• Certification of knowledge (the knowledge is acquired through the successful completion of a theoretical and practical certification exam with the dog considered dangerous) various dog schools offer this.• Temporary certification of knowledge (for 3 months) a community can apply for a temporary permit so that they can train for the practical exam with this dog.• Driver’s license (18 years old, personal suitability, and required reliability)• Permission from the relevant authority• Muzzle and leash control (not on one’s own property, but the property must be secured so that the dog cannot escape.)• Proof of liability insurance• Microchip identification (completed by the animal shelter) Resocialization possible: If dogs have become conspicuous (bitten a person or animal, or behaved uncontrollably chasing or biting), the assessment as a dangerous dog can be rescinded after 2 years if the dogs have successfully passed a behavioral assessment and have been evaluated by a specialist in behavior or therapy.

About Jabba

What life with Jabba looks like

Jabba is a young adult english bulldog dog waiting at Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel in Kiel.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jabba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jabba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jabba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jabba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jabba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jabba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jabba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
