Jabba is bij ons terecht gekomen vanuit een ander asiel, waar hij na een inbeslagname was geplaatst. Hij had ontzettend overgewicht en de mensen hadden duidelijk niet goed voor hem gezorgd. Hij vertoonde bij deze mensen ook uitvalgedrag naar andere honden en af en toe naar mensen. Helaas omdat hij al langere tijd op bij het andere asiel zat, stond hij ingepland om ingeslapen te worden. Gelukkig is Jabba nu veilig bij ons en krijgt hij de kans die hij verdient. Bij ons laat Jabba zien dat hij duidelijke begeleiding en sturing nodig heeft: zonder, kan hij overprikkeld raken en is het moeilijk voor hem om zijn rust te pakken. Met rustige en consequente aansturing gaat hij echter netjes langs andere honden en kan hij ook sneller ontspannen. Hij kan ook prima met verschillende mensen lopen, en loopt ook al met groepen andere honden mee. In huis heeft Jabba veel baat bij structuur en duidelijke grenzen en regels. Hij vindt het fijn om te weten waar hij aan toe is en komt dan echt tot rust. Voor zijn welzijn plaatsen wij hem niet bij katten. Met een rustige en zelfverzekerde teef zou hij goed samen kunnen wonen. Hij kan goed samenleven met oudere kinderen (vanaf ongeveer 14 jaar), zolang zij op een respectvolle en passende manier met hem omgaan en zijn grenzen begrijpen. Wij zoeken voor hem actieve, ondernemende mensen die stevig in hun schoenen staan, ervaring hebben met honden zoals de Mechelse Herder en die hem de rustige energie en houvast kunnen geven die hij nodig heeft. Bij de juiste begeleiding zal Jabba zich ontwikkelen tot een trouwe, stabiele hond die niets liever wil dan samen genieten van het leven.
