Jack

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Jack has found a home quickly! His story: Cluj, Romania. The story of the approximately 2-year-old and only 28 cm small Dachshund mix Jack was fine until recently. He had a home and a loving owner. Unfortunately, this owner passed away unexpectedly, and Jack's world fell apart. But we have promised to find him a new family as quickly as possible. Jack is a dream dog. Calm, content, and friendly. Although he is a Dachshund mix, no hunting behavior has been observed currently. Jack gets along well with both other dogs and cats. An all-rounder, he is also suitable for dog beginners. Dachshunds are known to be clever, playful, lively, and independent. Jack would greatly appreciate a garden where she can run around and even dig. The Dachshund's favorite pastime is sniffing, so she should be allowed to do a lot on walks and would surely enjoy tracking or mantrailing, which would keep her mentally stimulated. We wish our heartbreaker many happy and well-cared-for years by the side of his favorite people. Jack is of course neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and in possession of an EU pet passport. A big thank you also goes to Ingrid S., who gave this gem his name.

About Jack

What life with Jack looks like

Jack is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jack, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jack?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jack on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jack if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jack already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jack isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jack and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
