adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! Jack was locally adopted! Story so far: Although chain confinement of dogs in Romania – similar to Germany – is prohibited, countless pit bulls still suffer from this terrible fate, which has various reasons. We at the animal welfare organization are doing everything we can to free the suffering dog souls from their misery, as a life on a chain is not at all pleasant for any four-legged friend. Even the beautiful male dog Jack had to endure an unbearable existence without freedom of movement and the opportunity to develop. However, our dedicated local helpers could save him after tips from the community. Currently, Jack is waiting in a Romanian foster home to travel to a beautiful home and is gradually recovering from the hardships of his first months of life. The magnificent Jack is 58 cm tall and weighs a substantial 26 kg. He is described as a true sunbeam. He affectionately and attentively meets the people around him. Playing brings him immense joy at the moment – no wonder after the severe restrictions and loneliness of the past months. Of course, he must learn the dog ABC in peace. Gentle guidance and a lot of patience should be provided to our sweet male dog here, as it is likely that he has not been nurtured or challenged before. Since Jack is a rather large dog, extended walks – preferably in the countryside – should be at the top of the list. We are very sure that Jack, who makes every human heart beat faster with his loyal-brown eyes, will have a lot of fun with shared activities. As he gets along well with fellow animals, a confident only dog can become a friendly companion. Whether Jack also likes cats, we currently do not know. Would you like a true buddy like Jack by your side? No problem! He can pack his bag in mid-March and bring his EU pet passport with him. Of course, Jack would also be very happy to stay in a protected foster home for a while. Thank you, dear Mrs. Brown! With this beautiful name, you have hit the nail on the head, and Jack has the great chance to win the grand prize – a home of his own. As of: 14.02. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 14.02.2026

About Jack

What life with Jack looks like

Jack is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jack, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jack?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jack on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jack if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jack already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jack isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jack and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
