Jacko

adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Jacko has found a home! His story: Our heartbreaker Jacko is searching for a home! Today we have a visual treat for you – he is black and white, approximately 7.5 years old, about 60 cm tall, and still single. When we first met Jacko, we knew right away: Our hearts had been left in his enclosure, and we wouldn't see them again for a while. At first, Jacko was a bit reserved, but now he is overjoyed by affection and enjoys attention very much. Jacko shows himself to be a very people-oriented and friendly dog who is also compatible with fellow animals. What more could one wish for in a canine partner? For a long time, Jacko was still afraid of the harness, which was likely the reason he became a long-term inmate and spent many of his years behind bars. But now, if you proceed calmly, he lets you put the harness on, and he even enjoys going outside. Jacko is ready and is now searching for the people who feel the same way towards him as he does towards us: loyalty, love, and the willingness to enter a relationship that should last forever, stability. What Jacko experienced before his intake into the shelter, we do not know, but he will surely still have a lot to learn. The small dog 1×1 could be well approached with him in a positively working dog training class. That would certainly bring him great joy. We hope that Jacko can now finally embark on the adventure of his life: his own home! Can you help our beloved treasure? He would also be very happy with a foster home. Jacko travels neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, treated for fleas, dewormed, and has his EU pet passport with him. Stand: 06.04.

Stand: 06.04.2025

About Jacko

What life with Jacko looks like

Jacko is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jacko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jacko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jacko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jacko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jacko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jacko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jacko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
