Jackson

Border Collie · Male · Adult · 8 years

Jackson is a good boy, who can be a bit boisterous at times - he does jump up so any children in the home will need to be comfortable with this. Jackson has been left on his own for 4-6 hours in the home previously, so this would be a possibility in his new home also. He is a house-trained boy. He would thrive in a quiet to moderately busy household where he can be a part of the hustle and bustle but also spend some time chilling on his own. He does prefer his own space when resting, and can try to claim the sofa as his own, so management around this would be needed. Jackson will be a wonderful addition to the home! Meet gorgeous lad, Jackson! Jackson is an 8-year old Collie x Beagle looking for his forever home. Jackson is a gorgeous, chunky boy who is looking for a home where he can partake in his favourite activity which is running around on the beach! He would like to be the only dog in the home but will benefit from calm doggy friends. Jackson can live with older secondary school aged children that are able to give him space when he needs it. Jackson loves a long walk, and he is currently a bit overweight so would need to go on a diet, but also getting out for fun exercise during the day would be very beneficial for him. Jackson is very friendly with everyone he meets and enjoys a big fuss. Jackson can be a bit grumbly at the vets, so a muzzle may be required in this environment but other than this, he is a good boy! Jackson really enjoys playing with his squeaky toys, and loves chasing a ball. He is generally a super easy-going chap! We can't wait to see him living his best life with his new family.

About Jackson

What life with Jackson looks like

Jackson is a large adult border collie dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jackson, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jackson?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jackson on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jackson if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jackson already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jackson isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jackson and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
