Jane

Poodle Β· Female Β· Adult Β· 7 years

11-10-26 Jane is a sweet girl who has come into our care from a breeder in search of a new start. She is feeling quite overwhelmed to find herself here at the moment and when you enter her kennel she will hide away in her bed, though if you do approach her she will let you handle her but is very worried about this. Once you leave her kennel, she will come up the front of it and will gently sniff you. She will need lots of love and TLC as she starts to come out of her shell. Jane will be looking for a calm and quiet home with adopters who have experience with scared ex-breeding dogs and who will allow her to settle in at her own pace. We would consider homing her with dog savvy teenagers aged 16+. She relies on other dogs for comfort and reassurance and so she will need a home where there is at least one other kind and confident resident dog to be her friend and take her under their wing. Having another confident dog to copy will help her settle into home life and will be really beneficial in helping grow her confidence. As Jane has never lived in a home before, she will need to learn all about house training and the other basics of home life. Her new family will need to give her plenty of patience and encouragement while she gets used to everything that is new to her. She doesn't yet walk on a lead and will need to practice, first around the home and garden until she gains enough confidence to venture further. Jane has arrived with mastitis and is currently receiving treatment with us. We will continue to monitor her closely to make sure she is comfortable and receiving the care she needs. Jane is a gentle little girl who is already showing us small signs that she wants to be brave, and we hope that with the support of a confident canine companion and a kind, patient family, she will gradually gain confidence and enjoy the happy new start she deserves. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Jane

What life with Jane looks like

Jane is a small adult poodle dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jane, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jane?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jane on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jane if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Jane already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jane isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jane and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
