Janus

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Janus - approximately 8 years old (born around July 2018), 43 cm, male, neutered, still at the shelter in Poland. Janus eagerly awaits his family, his eyes shining with anticipation. He loves cuddles and his eyes light up when one of the caregivers or volunteers spends time with him. He just radiates happiness and can't get enough of it. It's impossible not to fall in love with this little guy! Janus is a big people lover - despite his sad history: he had a home or more accurately "he belonged to someone". But this owner didn't care about him. Janus was often beaten, food was scarce, he had no warm place to sleep in winter or a bowl of fresh water in summer. Janus was left to fend for himself. A person who loves animals noticed the dire situation Janus was in, took him away and now the little guy enchants everyone who meets him at the shelter. We wish Janus a home on the sunny side of life! Who wants to spoil Janus and show him what it means to be a fully valued family member? Who has hands free to cuddle and time and desire to explore the world with him? Janus will thank you as the best friend on 4 paws, we are sure of it. If you are interested in Janus, please get in touch. We look forward to you.

About Janus

What life with Janus looks like

Janus is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at home4dogs in Home4dogs.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Janus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Janus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. home4dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Janus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Janus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — home4dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Janus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Janus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with home4dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Janus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
