Hello! I’m Jasper, I’m a sensitive and intelligent Shih Tzu looking for a very experienced, adult-only home. I need to be honest, I have snapped in previous homes when I’ve felt overwhelmed. This has usually happened when I’ve been given too much attention or handling. I might look like I want fuss, but I cope much better with a calm, hands-off approach and clear boundaries. Because of this, I need an owner who understands dog behaviour, can read my body language, and will respect my space. I’m not a typical lap dog and I’m not suitable for homes wanting a very affectionate, hands-on companion. I need to be the only pet, as I don’t like other dogs, and I’ll need quiet walking areas or a secure garden with minimal dog contact. A calm home with very few visitors is important for me, as busy environments can be overwhelming. I enjoy being near my person and learning new things, but everything needs to be kept low-key and predictable. I’m also still working on being left alone and will need ongoing support. I won’t be the right fit for most homes, but with the right, experienced person who understands me and is willing to listen, I can build a strong and loyal bond.
