Pip

Yorkshire Terrier · Male · Senior · 9 years

Pip and Lola are an adorable pair of Yorkshire Terriers looking for a loving home where they can stay together. Nine-year-old Pip is a friendly little gentleman who enjoys attention and companionship, while twelve-year-old Lola is a sweet-natured girl who loves a cosy lap and plenty of fuss. They complement each other perfectly and are happiest when spending time with their favourite people. Despite being in their golden years, both still enjoy pottering about, gentle walks, and exploring their surroundings. Affectionate, loyal, and full of character, Pip and Lola would make wonderful companions for someone looking for double the love. Pip and Lola are currently being pampered in one of our lovely foster homes so are not based at the centre. Pip and Lola are a lovely pair looking for a home where they can enjoy their retirement together. They would love to be the only dogs in the household, allowing them to soak up all the attention and build a strong bond with their new family. Older, sensible children of upper secondary school age and above would be best, as both appreciate their space and gentle handling. A cat-free home is needed, although small furries may be considered if kept separate. Pip and Lola have been doing brilliantly with housetraining but are looking for adopters that are happy to continue building on this as well as gradually build up leaving hours. Lola can also be nervous in the vets and will need to wear a muzzle for invasive vet procedures to help keep her comfortable.

About Pip

What life with Pip looks like

Pip is a small senior yorkshire terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Manchester in Manchester.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pip, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pip?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Manchester handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pip on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pip if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Manchester will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Pip already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pip isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Manchester early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pip and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
