Adopt Jaz

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Name Jaz Born October 2025 Gender male dog Breed mixed breed Size will be around medium (Weight February 2026: 7 kilos) foster home Jaz was allowed to move to a foster home in the Mainz/Wiesbaden area and may be visited there gladly. The data provided regarding age often involves estimates, as we don't always know the exact age. Other information, such as size, is subjective. The name is part of the program 😉 The puppy is a lively, playful, and active companion who puts a smile on everyone's face in his vicinity. He was allowed to come to Germany, and here he has already shown his sunny disposition 😉 He is friendly to all people and dogs; he runs well on the leash; he is house-trained; he is no barker at the fence; he sniffs his life away, runs, plays, has nonsense on his mind… everything a young puppy shows, who still has to get to know life here. Jaz is ready for that 😉 Are you? Children should be sturdy, but are basically no problem. His story, however, is not very magical 🙁 The little man was found alone… no trace of his family… Fortunately, a safe place for him was found quickly. But since it is only a temporary shelter and he has been waiting there for several weeks… the local animal protection ladies asked us for help. Of course, we couldn't say no, and so he was allowed to move to a wonderful foster home. Here, he learns about life in the house, walks, indoor cleanliness, visitors, and cats. With other dogs, he shows himself to be compatible. Unfortunately, this place is also time-limited. Until April, we have time here in Germany to find a foster home, preferably with the intention of keeping him. We are looking for people who are willing to take on the adventure of an international dog and give him a second chance at a responsible home. If you are interested in this wonderful dog, please fill out the referral form or call us at the phone number provided. Here are a few pictures. For enlargement, please click on an image.

About Jaz

What life with Jaz looks like

Jaz is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jaz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jaz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jaz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jaz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jaz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jaz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jaz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
