Jazz

Podenco · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Imagine being adopted as a puppy, that is, as a super cute and very funny baby. Two years pass where you’re with your wonderful family, enjoying a home full of love, but suddenly you find yourself back at the animal rescue association, where you were adopted as a little one. We’re sorry to say that this has happened to Jazz, who, as we’ve mentioned, was adopted by a couple, but it seems that when the love between them ends, it ends for you too, and they no longer want you in their lives. Jazz is a loving, friendly, and very adorable dog. What more could we ask for? He’s still adapting to his new life, one that doesn’t suit him or any of his siblings. Although he lets us do almost anything, he still struggles to get used to us, to the noises of the animal shelter… which makes him a bit insecure at times. He’s friendly with people; he has no problem being with us, letting us pet him, give him hot dogs; something he adores, putting the leash on him and walking by our side, playing fetch… He gets along wonderfully with dogs, coexisting with two equally playful male siblings without any issues. We hope he can return to a home soon, that he doesn’t have to get used to a cage and doesn’t have to spend more time in one. Don’t hesitate to give Jazz a chance.

About Jazz

What life with Jazz looks like

Jazz is a medium-sized puppy/kitten podenco dog waiting at Protectora Malaga in Málaga.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

Note from the shelter: Returned to shelter after 2 years - needs patient owner to rebuild trust and confidence

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jazz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jazz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Malaga handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jazz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jazz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Malaga will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jazz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jazz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Malaga early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jazz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
