Jenna

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Jenna is seeking experienced people with a huge heart! Jenna is a young female dog overwhelmed by her situation at the animal shelter. She shows mistrust towards strangers in her behavior. Jenna then retreats into her "cave" and wards off contact attempts with growls. With familiar people, like the staff at the animal shelter, the female dog leaves her open cage in the medical area, walks around, and allows them to touch her. A malformation in the genital area was discovered in Jenna. The genital organ is not attached, and the female dog pulls through a hole. This does not cause problems for Jenna. We are looking for a loving home for Jenna with dog-experienced people as soon as possible. The female dog needs stable relationship and daily structures to be able to put her mistrust towards people behind her. The development potential that Jenna brings with her will be a great asset. With the investment of resources, time, and a lot of patience, it will be possible to guide Jenna step by step into a happy dog life. However, she will need her time to build trust and find her way in a new living environment. A present, confident single dog would certainly be a great support. We wish for Jenna a quiet home environment and people who can offer her the security of the world. Adopting an animal shelter dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs bring a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations with them and need time to adjust to their new life. If you have serious interest in adopting Jenna, please contact the responsible mediator at SALVA Hundehilfe. We would also be very happy about the provision of an experienced foster home. The contact details are further below.

About Jenna

What life with Jenna looks like

Jenna is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jenna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jenna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jenna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jenna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jenna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jenna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jenna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
