Jenny

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Jenny is a stunning long-legged Podenca Ibiza. The Podenco's typically long, relatively light fur, the honey-colored eyes, and the slender, athletic figure make Jenny a true looker. She would likely have found a new home long ago if not for her reserved nature towards humans. We are particularly reaching out to those among animal lovers who do not expect a shy fawn like Jenny to immediately share the couch and bed upon being introduced or to dash to the door wagging her tail when it's time for a walk. All of this will come, sooner or later, but a little patience will be needed, won't it, Jenny? That Jenny has not yet completely lost her trust in humans is shown by the story of her rescue. The female dog was abandoned somewhere on the city outskirts when she was less than a year old. She wandered aimlessly through the streets, always searching for food and a place to sleep. She became a case for the animal welfare team Albayyasa. Several volunteers began observing the homeless female dog, who at first did not allow herself to be approached. Therefore, food was laid out at a place where she was often seen. Every day at the same time, an animal welfare worker would come, and soon Jenny was eating from their hand. She still did not want to be touched and would retreat when they tried to pet her. After a month, the animal welfare worker decided to trap Jenny with a live trap, as there was a danger she could become pregnant or be hit by a car. The trap was baited with something fragrant, and behold, Jenny walked into it, enjoyed the treat, and the trap snapped shut. Jenny seemed to say: "Finally, I'm in safety!" She behaved very calmly and has lived since December 5, 2025, in our animal shelter Albayyasa. Unfortunately, we helpers have little time to work with the dogs, catch up on missed work, or train them. We are fully occupied with providing good care for the animals. Occasionally, we have time for a short walk, and we wish we had more time for dogs like our lovely but so reserved Jenny. We wish for this wonderful female dog sensitive people who will take her on with love, patience, and confidence. People who can maintain a balance between waiting and gently demanding. We are looking for self-assured, dog-experienced people, and we know they exist. We believe, like we do every day with dogs like Jenny, that we experience and hear daily small wonders. And we know the indescribable feeling of having won a broken heart like Jennys. Jenny has her whole life ahead of her. She is young and can learn everything that has been denied her so far. And you, dear Jenny, we wish a wonderful home where you will be loved and cherished. All the best! © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V.

DE·Show original

About Jenny

What life with Jenny looks like

Jenny is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jenny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jenny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jenny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jenny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jenny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jenny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jenny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
