Jenson

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 17 months

Jenson has spent all of his young life living in a council shelter in Romania. These shelters are extremely overcrowded and sadly, there are just not enough workers to spend 1-1 time with these dogs and so they slowly just disappear into the background as numbers. We had a message asking if we'd help get him out and give him a chance at finding his own family and home, something that he has never experienced before. We agreed to take him and when he arrived, he was extremely nervous of us, he kept his distance but we could see him watching when some of our current residents were coming over to us for fusses. He was very intrigued and he has slowly been approaching to see what these strokes and fusses are all about. Jenson is still a young boy and has so much potential to be an amazing dog for someone that is willing to be patient with him and teach him that the world is not such a scary place. Jenson really gets his confidence from other dogs. He's mixed with most of ours at the rescue and he has show to be playful & respectful, he will also listen to the other dogs body language amazingly. He will need a dog that is kind to him and that will show him the ropes. Jenson is super submissive and so a dog that would be snappy and / or not share their things with him, would be very worrying to him and could set him backwards. Jenson is new into the rescue and so we've not cat tested him as of yet. Jenson is just a young timid pup trying to gain some confidence. We've not yet seen his true personality but we belive he's going to be a dog with moderate to high energy levels once he's fully settled Jenson has never been in a home before so we don't know how he'll react with being left completely alone. This should be built up slowly over time. With another dog for company, we believe Jenson could be fine for up to 4 hours Jenson is still very timid and so we've not yet started lead training Jenson doesn't yet have any kind of basic manners, he needs to gain confidence in himself and his people before any of this can be taught

About Jenson

What life with Jenson looks like

Jenson is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Oakwood Dog Rescue in Kingston upon Hull.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jenson, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jenson?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Oakwood Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jenson on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jenson if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Oakwood Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jenson already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jenson isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Oakwood Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jenson and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
