Adopt Jerome

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Location: Romania, Orastie Gender: male Born: approximately June 2025 Character: playful and very social towards fellow animals, no single housing! Initially reserved towards humans. Disability: none Hello, I am the little tomcat Jerome. Like many cats, I was born on the street, but I was lucky enough to be taken in by an animal rescuer before something happened to me or I got sick. It's good here at my foster home, but I can't stay here forever because there are still so many cats in need outside, and if I find a home, another poor kitten can take my place here. That's why I've decided to take a step forward and introduce myself. I'm a sweet little treasure who is very playful for my age. I like to play with the other cats my age here and also cuddle with them. Therefore, I would like at least one peer cat in my future home. I could also bring someone from my foster home with me if you don't have a cat yet. I'm a bit shy towards humans, I allow myself to be petted, but I don't come to the human on my own. I wish for people who have some patience with me. When I gain trust, I will certainly dare to come to you and get my cuddles. Who knows, maybe I'll become a real snob. I have already received my first vaccinations against feline flu and panleukopenia, I am dewormed and treated for fleas, and when I travel to you, I will also get a microchip and a rabies vaccination. You can read all this in my EU pet passport, which I will then receive. This is the "passport" for us cats. I'm still too young for castration, I should be allowed to develop a bit more. If I go to you neutered, the condition for adoption is that I will be neutered at the appropriate time. Then you should discuss with your veterinarian when the right time is. I would be happy if you would contact me! Then I could start my journey to you soon. This animal is microchipped.

About Jerome

What life with Jerome looks like

Jerome is a small young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Seelenkatzen e.V. in Barsinghausen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jerome, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jerome?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelenkatzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jerome on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jerome if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelenkatzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jerome already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jerome isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelenkatzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jerome and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
