AVA

Mixed Breed Cat · Unknown · Young · 1 year

Important: When you apply to adopt a cat from our branch, we will contact you asap initially via email. If you don’t receive any response from us, please also check your junk or spam folders for our emails. Meet the very gorgeous tortie Ava. She is approximately one year old and currently in foster care. Please read the latest update from her carer below: ‘Ava is a lovely, friendly girl who, after just one day, was lying out in the room and had slowly gained her confidence with me. She is happy with me stroking her, and she soon purrs away. She gets more confident with each day and definitely loves a fuss. I think Ava would be better in a home with no resident children. She is very clean and uses her litter tray without issues; she may have gone outside in her previous home, but it would be nice for it to be her choice and not forced out if she didn’t want to go. At the moment, we don’t know how she would react with other cats, but slow and careful introductions to other pets are always recommended. Ava really deserves her own forever home, could you offer her that?’ Please click or tap 'Adopt Me' below to start the adoption process.

About AVA

What life with AVA looks like

AVA is a young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Craven and Upper Wharfedale Branch in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting AVA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about AVA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Craven and Upper Wharfedale Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw AVA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt AVA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Craven and Upper Wharfedale Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is AVA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if AVA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Craven and Upper Wharfedale Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know AVA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
