Adopt Jessie

Husky · Female · Adult · 4 years

Hi!! I'M JESSIE!! (yes, I speak in capital letters, because I'VE ALWAYS LIKED IT!) Heeeeey there! So I'm Jessie! Four years old, a Siberian Husky, a professional cuddle butt, part-time clown, full-time energy explosion! I ended up at DOA through another animal shelter. How, what and why? No idea, man. We don't know much about my past. But that doesn't matter, because I live in the NOW! And the NOW is super fun! Do you want to play? YES! With a ball? YES! With a flirt stick? YES, PLEASE! With yourself? ABSOLUTELY, I'M READY FOR IT! Really, nothing is too much for this girl. Just tell me what we're going to do and I'll run in that direction already! Even if you haven't told me yet. Such enthusiasm I have. Climbing stairs? Hahaha, I just run up as if I've trained for the stair climbing Olympics for years. Elevator? No problem! I almost press the button myself. Walking on the street? WHOLLY MY THING. Sniffing? I do it non-stop. Running? YES OF COURSE, I STILL HAVE TEN JESSIES WORTH OF ENERGY IN STOCK! I love everything, I love everyone and I'm basically a walking smile on four legs. If you like to do a lot, to laugh a lot AND have a dog who is always ready to save the day... then I'm your girl. So yes... that's me: Jessie. Your new workout buddy, your comedian, your personal happiness engine. And now I want to play. Are you coming?

Hoi!! IK BEN JESSIE!! (ja, ik praat in hoofdletters, want IK HEB ER ALTIJD ZIN IN!) Heeeeey daar! Ik ben dus Jessie! Vier jaar jong, Siberische husky, professioneel knuffelkont, parttime clown, fulltime energie-explosie!

About Jessie

What life with Jessie looks like

Jessie is a adult husky dog waiting at DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam in Amsterdam.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jessie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jessie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jessie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jessie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jessie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jessie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jessie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
