Adopt Jim

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Name: Jim Breed: mixed breed Gender: male neutered Size: 45 cm Weight: 17 kg Age: 25.05.2017 In the animal shelter since: 27.02.2018 If you are interested in Jim, please answer the following six questions in your inquiry: 1. How many people live in your household? 2. Are there children in the house? If yes, how many and how old? 3. Are there other pets in the house? If yes, which ones? 4. What is the living situation (house/apartment? floor? garden?) 5. How many hours would the dog be alone each day? (Please note: supervision must be provided by adults. Children do not count for supervision!) 6. Have you had dog experience? 7. Your birth year? Jim has a very hard time interacting with people but has warmed up to our animal caregivers and his regular walkers. Despite that, he seeks proximity only on his terms and decides the duration of the cuddles – and that's perfectly okay. He seeks people who accept him as he is. He will never be a dog you can walk around the city or go to the dog park with at ease. And he doesn't need someone trying to prove the opposite. The best would be a life similar to here in the animal shelter, only with more domestic attachment and less visitor traffic ;-). A quiet household without children, in a rural location. Lots of space and a securely fenced garden, which they could ideally access independently through a dog gate or similar. A confident female dog should already be living in the household. Do you have a question about this animal? Please call us: Monday to Friday 15-17 and Saturday 14-17. Or write to us: Some shelter residents need more patience in their search for an appropriate home, due to illness, age, or special character traits. To make their time here as pleasant as possible, we rely on the financial support of animal friends. By adopting a sponsorship, you help us with daily and medical care and accommodation of our animals. Sponsorships are possible from a monthly contribution of 10 euros. You can also set the amount of your contribution as you see fit. As a thank you, you will receive an individually designed sponsorship certificate and be mentioned as a sponsor on our homepage and our Facebook page.

Name: Jim Rasse: Mischling Geschlecht: männlich kastriert Größe: 45 cm Gewicht: 17 kg Alter: 25.05.2017 Im Tierheim seit: 27.02.2018 Wenn Sie Interesse an Jim haben, beantworten Sie uns in Ihrer Anfrage bitte zuerst die folgenden sechs Fragen:1. Wie viele Personen leben im Haushalt?2. Leben Kinder im Haus? Wenn ja, wie viele und wie alt?3. Leben andere Tiere im Haus? Wenn ja, welche?4. Wie ist die Wohnsituation (Haus/Wohnung? Stockwerk? Garten?)5.

About Jim

What life with Jim looks like

Jim is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at BMT Tierheim Pfullingen in Pfullingen.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jim, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jim?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Pfullingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jim on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jim if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Pfullingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jim already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jim isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Pfullingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jim and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
