Joe

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten

JOE, COCKER, MILLI and VANILLI These four choir boys and girls are named JOE and COCKER, MILLI and VANILLI. They like to show off their singing skills in the car on the way to the veterinary clinic... The 4 pretty kittens were born in mid-May 2026 and were quite shy and anxious when they moved into our foster home at about 6 weeks old. Especially VANILLI could not stand humans and showed it very clearly. After 3-4 weeks all 4 of them let their foster mom pet them and purred happily while doing so. Here JOE was clearly the leader: He showed himself to be extremely affectionate just a few days after his arrival! Unfortunately, JOE, COCKER, MILLI and VANILLI are still very anxious around strangers, but that will certainly change as quickly as they have patience with them and do not pressure them. That's why we don't see small children in their Furever Family either. They don't know dogs yet. As always, we only give these lively kittens away in pairs and with the possibility of outdoor access after neutering and acclimatization. At the time of departure, which will be possible from the beginning of August, the rowdies will have been vaccinated twice, chipped and dewormed. Are you the right people? Then please contact us at or send us a meaningful email to .

About Joe

What life with Joe looks like

Joe is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzinitiative Odenwald in Wald-Michelbach.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Joe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Joe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzinitiative Odenwald handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Joe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Joe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzinitiative Odenwald will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Joe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Joe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzinitiative Odenwald early rather than rehoming privately; they know Joe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
