adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Johannes has found a home! His story: Johannes – A real character dog on short legs searches for his forever home! Johannes is a sweet, well-aged male dog in his prime, eagerly awaiting a loving home. A real charmer on short legs 🙂 With his handy shoulder height of about 42 cm, he fits perfectly on any sofa and straight into your heart. Johannes is about 6 years old and a quiet, balanced companion who greatly enjoys the company of humans. He loves being stroked, snuggles up, and is simply happy when he can be there. His body is more of a larger dog's, but his legs are too short, giving him the appearance of a Corgi and weighing around 20 kg. He enjoys walks as much as cozy hours on the couch. He gets along well with other dogs and is generally a uncomplicated, loyal companion. Johannes is very people-oriented and loves to snuggle for life. Those who have looked into his faithful eyes are immediately smitten. Currently, he can't be left alone very well, as he still has some separation anxiety. Therefore, our "Hansi" is looking for a place where he doesn't have to be alone and where he can enjoy a garden, as he loves to lie in the grass. Johannes is a self-confident dog who is not swayed by environmental distractions. Whether cars, tractors, bicycles, or household appliances, he always remains calm. And if he does find something a bit scary, you can simply show and explain it to him, and then it's good for him. He's also perfect for a beer garden 🙂 We hope that he can now experience the beautiful sides of life and learn that there are people who only want the best for him. Johannes is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He brings an EU pet passport and can be adopted with a positive outcome. Who will give this lovable male dog a warm spot and a heart that beats for him? Many thanks to Ker W.! You gave Johannes his awesome name! Date: 21.05.

Vielen Dank an Ker W.! Du hast Johannes seinen tollen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 21.05.2025

About Johannes

What life with Johannes looks like

Johannes is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Johannes, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Johannes?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Johannes on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Johannes if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Johannes already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Johannes isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Johannes and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
