Jolly was only three months old when she was rescued from a overcrowded transporter in early spring 2000, along with her mother and two other donkeys in Italy. The truck was en route from Romania to Sicily, where the donkeys were to be slaughtered and processed into salami. Today, Jolly lives with the matriarch donkey, Rosamunde, from the Federation Against Cruelty to Animals in Geldern, on the Lower Rhine. She has become an exceptionally confident donkey who knows exactly what she wants (and what she doesn't want).

Jolly war erst drei Monate alt, als sie im Frühjahr 2000 zusammen mit ihrer Mutter und zwei anderen Eseln in Italien aus einem überladenen Transporter befreit wurde. Der LKW war auf dem Weg von Rumänien nach Sizilien, wo die Esel geschlachtet und zu Salami verarbeitet werden sollten. Jolly lebt heute zusammen mit der Eseldame Rosamunde vom Bund gegen den Mißbrauch der Tiere in Geldern am Niederrhein. Sie ist eine ausgesprochen selbstbewusste Eseldame geworden, die genau weiß, was sie will (vor allem aber, was sie nicht will).
