Jon Boy

German Shepherd · Male · Senior · 9 years

Jon Boy – clever, charming, and character-strong Jon Boy is an exceptionally eager-to-learn, people-oriented, and watchful male dog with a lot of charm and a smart head. He came from a government seizure into the animal shelter. Here, he has already learned a lot, works well with familiar people, and shows clingy and cuddly behavior. At the same time, he needs clear rules and reliable, confident leadership – because he is smart and remembers everything about who he can and cannot do. I like… people who give me security and orientation Rhythmic, structured daily routines Common mental stimulation that challenges my mind Clear rules – even though I sometimes question them I can already… basic commands My business to be reliably taken care of Outside I can be very friendly to familiar people I can cooperate and enjoy closeness with my primary caregiver I still need to learn… to take dog interactions more calmly – I get frustrated quickly on the leash to handle new situations better to open up to strangers – it takes me a bit of time to be comfortable with them to regulate my frustration better – in the animal shelter, I sometimes work out my frustration with toys I wish for… a home with dog-experienced people in a quiet environment A house with a securely fenced yard – I am very alert A consistent, loving leadership with a clear line People who are willing to work with me and take the time to do so A living environment without children, small animals, or urban overload Whoever wants to meet Jon Boy, should bring time for several visits to the animal shelter to build mutual trust. About Jon Boy

What life with Jon Boy looks like

Jon Boy is a large senior german shepherd dog waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Needs time to trust strangers, becomes frustrated on leash with other dogs, requires secure fenced property

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jon Boy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jon Boy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jon Boy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jon Boy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jon Boy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jon Boy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jon Boy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
