Adopt Tino

German Shepherd · Male · Adult · 7 years

Gender: Male Age: born 01.06.2019 Breed: German Shepherd-Mix We are looking for a quiet home for Tino without other animals. Our Tino has not had much chance to learn in his past and has always been able to assert himself through his behavior. He is a very restless dog who finds it hard to stay calm, especially during the stressful animal shelter routine. In communication with fellow animals, he is very intrusive and can quickly become aggressive. With guidance, however, he can walk in dog groups. At the animal shelter, he can be in the office during the day to learn to stay calm in a quieter environment. Strangers do not interest him much at first, but once he gets used to someone, he can also enjoy closeness and cuddles. We are looking for people who, through training and motivation, can refine the "rough diamond" for Tino and provide a quiet home without other animals. Tino has been classified as dangerous due to a previous incident and requires a muzzle and leash. At the animal shelter since: 22.08.2024 If you would like to meet Tino, please call us at 06181 – 45116 or write to Landstraße 91 / Am Wasserturm E-Mail: www.animal shelter-hanau.de We are members of the German Animal Protection League and the State Animal Protection Association Hessen. About Tino

What life with Tino looks like

Tino is a adult german shepherd dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. in Bad Vilbel.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
