Jona

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Jona (born 10/2025) is a sweet, jet-black female dog and an absolute ray of sunshine. Always in good spirits, she brings a smile to your face every single day. She is very people-oriented and enjoys every bit of petting. She also loves romping and playing. However, she is not a dog who jumps straight into the arms of strangers. She is somewhat shy and reserved, and in her short life she has evidently not only met kind people. Once you win her heart, though, you will have the most wonderful and loyal dog by your side that you could imagine. Jona will stay small, has a longer back and dachshund-like legs. That is why we are looking for a ground-floor home for her; a house with a fenced-in garden would be ideal. Being her age, she is playful, curious, and just discovering the world. She gets along well with other dogs, but at first she is quite insecure and shows this by barking. She needs time and someone who can give her a sense of security. Jona currently lives in a household with two other dogs. For her, we wish for a home with a confident, friendly resident dog, and if there are children in the household, they should be teenagers. They should have learned to handle animals respectfully. Car travel is no problem at all for Jona. She simply sleeps through the ride. And she already walks nicely on the leash. For Jona, we wish for a loving home where she can grow up well cared for and learn the basics of dog life. With patience, love, and some consistency, she will grow into a loyal companion. Who will fall in love with this little treasure and give her a warm bed for life? Jona is vaccinated, microchipped, and will be placed with a protection contract after a positive preliminary check. Due to her age, she is not yet neutered. A safety harness (3-strap) must be worn when collecting the dog. Such a harness can be purchased for just €25.

Jona (geb.

About Jona

What life with Jona looks like

Jona is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jona, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jona?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jona on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jona if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Jona already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jona isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jona and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
