adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! New beginnings are sometimes all it takes. Our wonderful Joschi is waiting for people who will prove to him that behind every sad chapter, a happy one can follow. The story of Joschi is moving. In the icy winter, the approximately 3-year-old male dog was tied to a bridge and left to his fate. When he was found, he was already covered in snow—a heart-wrenching sight that his rescuer will likely never forget. Currently, Joschi lives in a foster home in Romania, but in a paddock. He gets along well with the pack living there and behaves absolutely sociably. Unfortunately, he doesn't get along with the family's cats, so Joschi spends most of his days alone in an outdoor paddock. Joschi is about 55 cm tall, weighs around 30 kg, and has longer fur in various color nuances. With his build and appearance, he resembles an old German Shepherd, but his drooping ears and bushy ringlet reveal that other genes are at play—truly a mixed breed. Despite everything he's experienced, Joschi remains an incredibly friendly and open dog. He actively seeks the company of people, is attentive, and shows himself to be clever and kind. Only men with sticks frighten him—a clear sign that he likely had bad experiences in his past. Joschi is an active, eager learner who needs physical and mental stimulation. Walks, hikes, or dog sports—these would be great tasks for him. So far, Joschi has barely known life in a household. He will need time, patience, and clear rules to learn everything necessary for a relaxed coexistence. His future people should give him the opportunity to adapt at his own pace and understand that trust grows slowly—but once it is there, it will be deep and strong. Who would like to know this wonderful fellow and loyal companion? A foster home would also offer him a much better world. Many thanks, Monika V., for taking on his namesship. As of 26.11. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Joschi

What life with Joschi looks like

Joschi is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Joschi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Joschi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Joschi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Joschi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Joschi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Joschi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Joschi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
