Adopt Timón

Dachshund · Male

My early years were very difficult: I ended up in the Spanish Perrera, a place I will never forget – loud, dark, full of fear. There, I learned to make myself invisible just to survive somehow. But then came my first little ray of light, the animal welfare workers who thankfully did not overlook me and rescued me. From that moment on, I gradually discovered that life also holds care, patience, and affection for me. During a routine blood test, it was found that I have leishmaniasis, an illness that is very treatable with medication and a suitable diet. I was also diagnosed with mild arthritis, which doesn't cause me any pain. Since my rescue, my journey has had three interim stops, and each time I had to muster the courage to open my heart a little bit more. This situation is not only challenging for me but also very stressful for my foster family, so I urgently need to find my forever home. Ideally, it would be in a quiet environment with a woman who can give me time, understanding, and security. One or two confident dog companions by my side would be wonderful. They could show me how beautiful and carefree life can be, just as my foster sister Dana is demonstrating to me now. But even as a single dog, I could be happy if my human respects my pace and celebrates small steps as much as big ones. I am not a dog who immediately embraces the whole world. I love quietly, opening my heart in small steps, and eventually giving it all to someone who gives me the chance to settle in. I am ready for the journey to my forever home: vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, and with my EU pet passport at the ready. Would you like to become my forever heart person?

About Timón

What life with Timón looks like

Timón is a large adult dachshund dog waiting at Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Timón, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Timón?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Timón on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Timón if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Timón already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Timón isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Timón and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
