adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Josephine has found her own home! Her story: Sometimes life writes stories that you wish would never have happened – and Josephine is the protagonist of such a story. The approximately two-year-old female dog was found alone in a village near Bistrita. For days, she wandered through the cold without shelter or food, until she was finally rescued completely exhausted. When she was found, she literally consisted of skin and bones. But despite the hard time on the streets and the hunger that marked her, Josephine has not lost one thing: her gentle and friendly nature. Now the pretty mouse had good luck and was allowed to travel to her foster home in Hamburg. She is doing great and is already settling in well there. Josephine is already house-trained and can be left alone for short periods very well. Visually, the pretty, medium-sized female dog resembles a graceful mix of German Shepherd and Husky, but currently, she appears very fragile and delicate due to her skinny frame. Josephine is incredibly loving, cuddly, and longs for the human closeness she had to go without for so long. At about two years old, Josephine has already gone through the turbulent puppyhood, and puberty seems to be in its final stages. This is a wonderful basis to grow together with her. For Josephine, we are looking for active people who want to discover the world with her. She is looking forward to nice walks, and a visit to a dog training class would surely bring her much joy. And of course, long cuddle times on the sofa. Josephine gets along well with her fellow animals. Josephine is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas and has her EU pet passport with her. Who will give this pretty mouse their heart? Many thanks to Linda, who gave Josephine her wonderful name and thus the chance to finally be seen. Status: 05.03.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 05.03.2026

About Josephine

What life with Josephine looks like

Josephine is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Josephine, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Josephine?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Josephine on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Josephine if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Josephine already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Josephine isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Josephine and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
