Joshi

Chihuahua · Male · Puppy

Joshi is a friendly male Chihuahua mix, approximately 2 years old, who was born in 2019. He has been at the shelter since August 26, 2026. Joshi is initially cautious and reserved around strangers but needs time to build trust. He enjoys walks but is not immediately open to strangers. Once he has met his new family and gained their trust, he becomes friendly and enjoys cuddling. Joshi is familiar with living in a house with a garden and would appreciate this in his new home. He travels well in the car and is used to being restrained in a harness on the back seat. Joshi is comfortable around children aged six and up, but we prefer a quiet household without children for his new home. An ideal match would be a calm couple or a small, relaxed family with minimal activity. Joshi currently reacts excitedly to other dogs on a leash and sometimes barks at them. This behavior is due to a lack of consistent socialization with other dogs in his previous home. Further work is needed to address this issue. Joshi can be left alone for short periods and is an attentive and vigilant dog. We are looking for active people who enjoy spending time with him and providing physical and mental stimulation. Joshi is not a couch potato - he is intelligent, wants to be engaged and challenged, and thrives when included in his owner's daily activities. He does not want to share his home with other dogs and prefers to be the only pet. If given the time to build trust and a stable home, Joshi will be a great companion with many adventures to come.

Rasse: Chihuahua-Mix.

About Joshi

What life with Joshi looks like

Joshi is a puppy/kitten chihuahua dog waiting at Tierheim Lübbersdorf in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Joshi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Joshi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Lübbersdorf handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Joshi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Joshi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Lübbersdorf will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Joshi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Joshi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Lübbersdorf early rather than rehoming privately; they know Joshi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
