Joya &#8211

Labrador Retriever · Female · Senior · 12 years

JOYA was given up due to overloading the second sitter, where she was already at the second place. Now, Joya is in our pension under the care of the Tierschutzbund Basel Regional until a suitable home is found. The following criteria must be met in the new home: dog experience, no small children (over 12 okay), no cats or other small pets. JOYA will not be rehomed with people with a 100% work schedule. A nice, more quiet and sovereign-only dog may already live in the new home, but this is not a condition. JOYA tends to have surprise behaviors on walks, such as biting the leash or jumping on people (which is also the reason she is not rehomed with smaller children). She is a nice and friendly female dog who would enjoy being meaningfully occupied, such as Man-Trailing, tracking, or other mental stimulation. JOYAS diary with more photos, videos, and information can be found on our homepage: www.grisette.ch. If you meet the above conditions and would like to meet Joya and give her a suitable home, please request our non-binding application form: if you leave a message on our answering machine, we will call you back) or by email: . JOYA will be released with 600.– and after prior place report from the dog pension Grisette in the Swiss Jura: JOYA, Breed: Labrador Retriever, born: 23.06.21, size: approx. 58 cm. Handling with cats: not suitable for cats. Handling with children: from 12 years. Suitable as a second dog: suitable. More info:

About Joya &#8211

What life with Joya &#8211 looks like

Joya &#8211 is a small senior labrador retriever cat waiting at Tierschutzbund Basel Regional.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Joya &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Joya &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzbund Basel Regional handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Joya &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Joya &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzbund Basel Regional will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Joya &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Joya &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzbund Basel Regional early rather than rehoming privately; they know Joya &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
