Julchen

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Julchen, a mixed-breed male, neutered, 52 cm tall, 21 kg, born 12.05.2017, has been at the shelter since 31.03.2020. This white-brown dog with an unusual name is a charming companion whose lovable and sometimes clumsy nature always brings a smile to people's faces. He has made great progress during his time at the shelter. He is eager to learn and enjoys training, so there is certainly still much potential to be discovered with Herr Julchen. He generally gets along well with other dogs, but he prefers to be the single prince of his humans. He loves petting above all and actively demands it. The most beautiful place for Herr Julchen is his owner's lap, where he loves to cuddle. However, he also needs clear boundaries to stay grounded and prevent his imagination from running wild. An ideal home for this dog with his special character is a quiet home with humorous, dog-experienced people who can foster his potential and guide him in sensible ways. After a much too long time at the shelter, it's time for wonderful people to find him and experience the joy of living with humans. And he can bring a smile to their faces every day. If you are interested in Julchen, please answer the following six questions in your inquiry: 1. How many people live in the household? 2. Are there children in the house? If yes, how many and how old? 3. Are there other animals in the house? If yes, which ones? 4. What is the living situation (house/apartment? Floor? Garden?) 5. How many hours would the dog be alone in total per day? (Please note: Care must be ensured by adults. Children do not count for care!) 6. Do you already have experience with dogs? 7. Your birth year? Do you have a question about this animal? Please call us: Th, Fr 15-17 h and Sa 14-17 h Or write to us: Some of our residents need a bit more patience when searching for a suitable home. Whether due to illness, age, or special character traits. To make their time with us as pleasant as possible, we rely on the financial support of animal lovers. With the adoption of a sponsorship, you help us with the daily and medical care and accommodation of our animals. Sponsorships are possible from a monthly contribution of 10 euros. Above all, you can of course determine the amount of your contribution yourself. As a thank you, you will receive an individually designed sponsor certificate and will be mentioned as a sponsor on our homepage and our Facebook page.

About Julchen

What life with Julchen looks like

Julchen is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at BMT Tierheim Pfullingen in Pfullingen.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Julchen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Julchen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Pfullingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Julchen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Julchen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Pfullingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Julchen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Julchen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Pfullingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Julchen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
