Jumbo

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Jumbo, a mix of Jura Gecka, was brought to our regular vet by a German woman who had been feeding him. Unfortunately, we don't know how he ended up there or how long he had been there, but she brought him in for a vaccination and advice. She was leaving for Athens in 20 days and couldn't take him. Jumbo weighed 11.3kg. We took photos during the visit and, although we wanted to give him a normal name, his vaccination booklet already said Jumbo. Jumbo is around 5 months old and very healthy, having had his first vaccination. The German woman planned to keep him until she left for Athens, as he was sweet, friendly, and didn't cause any trouble. She really wanted the best for him. We were going to promote him from her home... The next day, we got a call that he couldn't stay because he would run after her car when she left. He needed to go somewhere else, but she would cover all the costs: vaccinations, castration, food, anti-parasite treatments. That's fantastic, but it could be a lifelong commitment at Safe Haven, and he wasn't safe with just one vaccination. He was brought on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Sorry, little guy, we can't offer you anything better. Luckily, he's very happy and friendly with the caregivers, and Bolek and Lolek invited him to play right away. And we know this type of dog is great in a family...

We zouden hem vanuit haar promoten…

About Jumbo

What life with Jumbo looks like

Jumbo is a medium-sized puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Stichting FTS - Paws of Greece in NL-wide.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jumbo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jumbo?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting FTS - Paws of Greece handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jumbo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jumbo if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting FTS - Paws of Greece will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Jumbo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jumbo isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting FTS - Paws of Greece early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jumbo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
